Yankee Do-Gooders Collections Service Project

On Tuesday, November 7, 2023 the Registrars and Collections Care Specialists (RACCS) PAGs will be holding our Yankee Do-Gooders gathering in the Portland, Maine area. Yankee Do-Gooders is a day of service which is held the day before the New England Museum Association Annual Conference, November 8-10. It is an opportunity for collections care professionals to share with local museums our skills and willingness to aid with collections projects.

We are looking for a host institution that is near Portland (30-ish minutes) and could use some assistance to complete a discrete project. We serve for one day (11:00 to 5:00) doing projects that the hosts are unable to complete due to money, staff, or time constraints.

Projects like cleaning, re-housing objects, inventories, textile rolling, boxing, interleaving, labeling, photography, or almost anything you can think of. We will pursue sponsorship to acquire any materials or tools required to complete the project and lunch for everybody. All you need is a mess that needs clearing up or a project that you've been putting off, your staff to supervise, and enough space for us to work.
