January Lunch With NEMA

WHEN:  Wednesday, January 30, 2019, Noon - 1 pm
WHAT: Engaging New Adult Audiences Through Programming
WHO:  Erin Wederbrook Yuskaitis, Co-Director of Education, Programming & Visitor Learning, Old North Church & Historic Site
FORMAT: Webinar

Faced with the challenge of reaching new audiences? Wish you could be more creative with your public programs but worried about budget constraints? Engaging New Adult Audiences Through Programming is possible for institutions with small staffs and limited resources! This webinar will follow Old North Church & Historic Site's planning and execution process of expanding its public programming from zero (as in zip, nada, nothing!) to robust year-long lineups of thematically connected lectures, community conversations, workshops, and educational online content that includes strategic partnerships with various community organizations and individuals. Erin will share what has worked well, what still needs work, challenges to consider, and recommendations for other historic sites and organizations.

Erin is the Co-Director of Education for the Old North Church & Historic Site after serving as the Director of Education for four years. She now focuses exclusively on public programming, digital programming, curriculum development, and collaborations with other sites on a part-time basis. Prior to joining Old North in 2013, she spent seven years in the nonprofit art world, managing programs for diverse audiences and curating exhibits for three different arts organizations in Alabama and Massachusetts. She received her BA from the University of Virginia in art history and archaeology, her MA from the University of Alabama in American studies, and her Certificate in Museum Studies/Education from Tufts University. She currently serves on the Planning Committee of the Greater Boston Museum Educators Roundtable and also leads training workshops for educators and docents at various organizations. When she’s not corralling her two young children, she and her neurologist husband give art + medicine gallery talks and presentations in museums, hospitals, and schools.
