Fruitlands Museum inspires and educates through the heritage, nature, and art of New England. Founded in 1914, the museum takes its name from an experimental community led by the Transcendentalists Bronson Alcott and Charles Lane which took place here in 1843. It includes the original farmhouse used by the Alcotts, a Shaker Museum, Native American Museum and Museum of American Art. Fruitlands is sited on 210 acres with a spectacular view shed and includes a restaurant, Museum Store and 2.5 miles of walking trails.
