L. C. Bates Museum
The L.C.Bates Museum is filled with wonderful exhibitions and collections that will delight the whole family. The three-story Romanesque Revival L.C.Bates Museum houses an early 20th century museum, complete with 32 Maine habitat dioramas, art exhibits, and 9 galleries of natural history and cultural objects. Behind the museum you can enjoy trails that lead to varied field, forest and wetland habitats; a microcosm of our varied regional environment.
The museum offers natural history, science, art and history tours and programs in the museum and on the trails. The museum hosts art exhibits, summer camps, birthday parties, sun viewing through a telescope, and many family programs.
