For nearly a century, the Martha’s Vineyard Museum (MVM) has collected art, artifacts, oral histories, documents and photographs. Today, its collection encompasses more than 43,000 different items that tell the stories of the people and events that have shaped Martha's Vineyard.
In 2019, MVM relocated to the former 1895 Marine Hospital in Vineyard Haven, which offers 10,000 square feet of exhibit, library, collections storage and office space. The campus is open year-round and includes 14 exhibit spaces, a gift shop, cafe, and interactive "do-touch" gallery for children. Programming for adults, children, and families is offered throughout the year. MVM educators also work with Island school children offering curriculum-based lessons and summer programs.
