The Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, established in 1876, is one of the leading collegiate art museums in the country and also one of the oldest. Among the Museum’s more than 17,000 objects are important paintings by American artists George Inness and Albert Bierstadt; Egyptian, Greek, and Roman antiquities, including a select group of vases and a second-century Roman portrait bust of Faustina the Elder; and Asian art from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia. Other highlights include a distinguished collection of Italian medieval and Renaissance paintings and sculpture. The Museum’s collection also includes thousands of prints, drawings, photographs, and other works on paper.

In addition to its noteworthy permanent collection, the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum maintains an active program of special exhibitions, lectures, and gallery talks.
