Museum Profile
New Canaan Historical Society
The New Canaan Historical Society holds the key to understanding the intimate secrets of New Canaan's past. With vast resources including five historic buildings on a campus that houses seven museums and a research library, the New Canaan Historical Society preserves and presents the Town's unique history. Off campus, the Gores Pavilion, a modernist building by "Harvard Five" architect and the Little Red School House expand the Historical Society resources. While adults research their family trees in the library, children can join their parents in the joy of learning about history in the nostalgic Cody Drug Store, a 1764 house, a tool museum, a 1799 school, a printing office and the National Landmark Sculpture Studio of John Rogers. With the aid of the New Canaan Historical Society, the past of New Canaan is interesting and fun to explore.
