Museum Profile
Ogunquit Museum of American Art
Perched on a cliff overlooking Narrow Cove and the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by landscaped sculpture gardens, the OMAA houses a collection of over 2,000 works of American art. Included in our collection are works by such internationally known artists as Robert Henri, Marsden Hartley, John Marin, Rockwell Kent, and Mark Tobey. Founded in 1952 by artist and philanthropist Henry Strater, we are the only museum in Maine dedicated exclusively to American modern art.
Mission: Celebrating its artistic heritage and origins in Ogunquit’s art colonies, the Ogunquit Museum of American Art engages and educates a diverse audience by acquiring, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting American art.
