Museum Profile
Skolfield-Whittier House
Built in 1858-1862 and inhabited by three generations of one family, the Skolfield-Whittier House is both a time capsule of nineteenth-century life and a layered reminder of over 100 years of recent history. Chock full of furnishings, artworks, family documents, and much more, this largely untouched home feels like the residents just left it. Among the residents were Dr. Frank Whittier, a pioneering forensic pathologist, and Alice Whittier, Maine's first female pediatrician.
