Willard House and Clock Museum is the birthplace and original home of the 18th century Willard clockmakers. It features the only 18th century clockmaker's shop still standing in America and three additional modern galleries housing the world's largest collection of masterpiece level Willard clocks and family portraits, furniture, ephemera, original patent and Thomas Jefferson drawing for the Willard clock design for Jefferson's College.
Simon Willard (1753-1848) is credited with three patents: a clock roasting jack, the Patent Timepiece or "banjo" clock and the Patent Alarm Timepiece or "Lighthouse" clock and all are represented in the collections.
The house dates approximately 1720 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is about to enter its 50th year open to the public.
